I'm loath to parade my real name about on the internet, but I'm known to most as Rydia. I've been on this earth for 30 years and have been drawing for most of them. I'm largely self taught, as these things go--my highest level art class was a 100 level class in college, and I learned to sew in a 200 level theatre tech class.
I've been making costumes since I was 16, although I didn't start sewing them until about 3 or 4 years ago. My stuffed animal making started about a year ago.
I'm more of a writer than I have ever been an artist, but raising money through writing is even more difficult than through art! I specialize primarily in science fiction/fantasy, a genre that is difficult to break into. So I will stick to art for the time being.
I currently reside in New Jersey, in the United States. I was born and raised in Michigan, however, and my family still lives there.
I am single and will almost certainly remain that way. I have two cats, named Jak and Nepeta, and my goal in life is to get about 98 more and become an old cat lady.
Pink Spider Studios is a name inspired by a late Japanese rockstar named hide (pronounced HEE-day, and yes, it is supposed to be lowercase). He had a song called 'Pink Spider,' which I very much enjoy. It's about a butterfly rather than a spider, which is fine because I do not much like spiders. I am not really much into traveling, but if I were to travel somewhere, I would want to go to Japan to visit the hide museum there.
